I clicked my tongue in annoyance as blood splattered all over my hands. It wasn’t the first time I had butchered a deer, but I rarely got myself so dirty. At least the area I was in had a river nearby to bathe in.
Ever since my entire squad perished, I’ve been on my own. I refused to take those young kids as replacements and settled on a one-man team. So far, I’ve been fairing well. Titans didn’t last long around me, squad or not.
I hoisted a hefty deer leg over my little fire, slowly turning it as I watched it cook. Then, I heard a branch crack behind me.
Titans couldn’t move at night, so it was some damn bastard trying to ruin my dinner. I pretended to be oblivious until he got closer. And when he was a foot away, I immediately turned and choked him.
Except he wasn’t a bastard, but a woman. My eyes widened for just a second as I saw this woman claw at my hand, gasping for air. I reluctantly let her go, watching her fall to her knees and breathe greedily.
“I’m not sharing my meat. Run along.” I snarled at her.
