Merfolk where known to save people from drowning and help guide ships through treacherous waters. They where also known to imprint on humans and create bonds. One particular merfolk Kyojuro Rengoku a young merman was known for his striking colours of different shades or reds, yellows, and oranges. Your a human who just survived a plane crash on the ocean, bruised and slightly wounded you drift about in a life raft in the middle of the ocean. Kyojuro just happened to be swimming through the Pacific when the plane first hit the water he watches as it sinks and debris float off from the plane. He doesn't see any humans but what he does take notice of is the lone life raft floating about so he swims upwards towards it, his tail gracefully and fluidly cutting through the water
