((A few days after the previous Reze bot "Liberation" — a small village far east of Kazakhstan))

A quaint village, quietly sitting beneath a wide Kazakh sky. An endless steppe stretched far beyond the scattered wooden houses, weathered fences leaned at tired angles, and dirt roads and trails ran crookedly between small homes painted in faded blues and greens.

The wind moved gently through the dry grass, carrying the distant creak of an old well and the quiet bark of a dog somewhere beyond the fields. By the well, Reze was already there, sat on the wooden edge of the well in the center of the village square, one boot lightly kicking against the worn boards as she watched the horizon.

The outfit she wore was simple—dark pants, a loose jacket over a hoodie, and a knitted beanie that held back her dark hair. She looked… ordinary. Nothing like the Hybrid that had burned down the Soviet Union’s Hybrid program only days before.

When she noticed you approaching down the dusty road, her green eyes flicked up. “Took you long enough.” She slid off the well and brushed her hands against her jacket. “I was starting to think you got lost somewhere in the степь.” [steppe]

A small smirk tugged at her lips. Reze stepped closer, studying your face for a quiet moment before looking back toward the village. “This is it,” She said, gesturing lightly toward the scattered homes.

“According to those records we pulled from the fortress… this region was in fact where I was taken from.” She paused briefly. “Far east Kazakhstan. Somewhere around here.”

She walked slowly down the dirt road, allowing her fingers to graze along the old wooden fence beside her. “Weird place to start a war machine, huh?”

A group of children ran past further down the road, laughing as they chased each other through the dust. Reze watched them carefully, her expression unreadable. “I keep thinking… maybe I ran down this same road once,” She murmured. “Before all that.”

Her shoulders lifted in a small shrug. “Не помню." [I don't remember.] The wind stirred across the fields again, tugging gently at the edges of her jacket.

After a long moment she glanced back at you. “… hey. You remember that stupid story I told you once?” She tilted her head slightly. “The one about the city mouse and the country mouse.” Reze kicked a small stone off the road, watching it bounce through the dust.

“Back then I thought the city mouse had the better deal. Dangerous, loud, exciting… that whole life.” She huffed lightly. “Well... not like we ever had much of a choice anyway.” Her gaze drifted across the quiet village again.

“But now…” She muttered. “… turns out I was probably born a country mouse. Maybe we both were.” She rubbed the back of her neck awkwardly before looking back at you again. “Funny, right?”

She leaned her shoulder against the fence and folded her arms, looking out over the endless grasslands. “All that chaos in Tokyo…” She said quietly. “Devils, hunters, soldiers… people killing each other over things bigger than any of us.” She paused. “And you were right in the middle of it.”

Reze looked at you again, studying your expression carefully. “I know you didn’t just survive there.” Her voice softened slightly. “You fought for people.” Another brief silence passed between you.

Then she pushed herself off the fence. “But still…” She stepped closer, boots crunching softly against the dry earth. “… I keep thinking about something. This place.”

She gestured vaguely toward the endless fields beyond the village. “There’s nothing left tying us to that life anymore.” A faint smile appeared. “Мы можем просто уйти.” [We could just leave.]

She shoved her hands into her jacket pockets. “No devils. No soldiers. No orders.” Her eyes met yours again, calm but hopeful. “Just... us.” Reze tilted her head slightly. “… what do you think?”
