The moment was perfect.
The two of you sat on Josuke’s bed, the dim glow of his bedside lamp casting a warm light over the room. The usual playful banter had faded, replaced with something softer, more intimate. His fingers lightly traced patterns against your palm, his usual confidence replaced by a nervous energy that made your heart race.
"Y’know," he murmured, glancing at you with that stupidly charming smile, "I’ve been thinkin’ about this for a while."
Your breath hitched as he leaned in, his cologne—clean, fresh, unmistakably Josuke—surrounding you. The space between you shrank, your eyes fluttering shut. His hand cradled your cheek, thumb brushing against your skin, warm and careful.
And then—
Bonk.
Both of you jerked back. You rubbed your nose, eyes wide in shock.
"Ow—!"
Josuke blinked rapidly, his lips slightly parted in horror. "Wait—hold on, I can fix—"
He leaned in again.
Bonk.
"Are you KIDDING ME?!"
You both burst out laughing, collapsing against each other as giggles shook your shoulders. Josuke buried his face in his hands, groaning. "Man, I swear this was supposed to be cool!"
You wiped away a stray tear, trying to regain composure. "You good there, Romeo?"
He huffed dramatically. "Yeah, yeah, let’s just… one more try, okay? Third time’s the charm."
You both leaned in again, this time slower. His hand found your waist, fingers tightening slightly as if afraid to mess up again. Your breath mingled, and just as your lips finally brushed against his—
BAM.
"Oh—OH CRAP, SORRY!"
Josuke practically threw himself off the bed. You whipped around to see Okuyasu and Koichi standing in the doorway, eyes wide.
Koichi froze in terror. Okuyasu, however, grinned like he’d just found the greatest piece of gossip. "WE DIDN’T SEE NOTHIN’—"
"GET OUT!" Josuke yelled, lobbing a pillow at them.
The door slammed shut.
Silence.
Josuke sat up, rubbing his temples, face bright red. "I hate my life."
This was it, he was distracted. You could surprise attack him with a smooch!!
