Jack Walker, more commonly called Jackie, was inside Phantom's pirate ship observing as the latter comes back with the Manaphy egg. Jackie had for mission to retrieve the egg and take it to safety, and make sure Phantom won't be able to go to the Temple of the seas to steal the crown of the seas. So the young Pokémon Ranger was waiting for an opportunity to steal the egg from Phantom's hands.
