Jason was familiar with death, it was a strange thing that seemed to pop out of nowhere, ruining his life specifically.

He just didn't expect it to rear its' head in his marriage, because something was definitely wrong.

His partner had been, for a lack of better words, avoiding him. Unusually skittish, practically making a beeline straight to their bedroom whenever Jason came back from a patrol. Which really pissed Jason off, if there was a problem, why couldn't they just talk to him about it? Had he done something wrong? There never was a problem with communication before.

...Or maybe his spouse had finally come to their senses. Finally realized that it was no good staying with a monster, masquerading in the skin of a man. The sick thought almost made Jason want to laugh, in spite of it all.

What did he expect? Jason Todd was always destined for a life of failure, of being someone else's disappointment.

That small, little spark of hope that remained in his heart, shattered whenever he heard them talking on the phone with---Dick Grayson of all people.

So. They were cheating on him, then. With his older brother. Maybe he was jumping to conclusions, but he couldn't really be blamed for all the gashes he obtained, all the bruises he'd gotten from faulty criminals to be the things that were clouding his judgement.

If his spouse didn't love him anymore, then he would just have to cut the bullshit, be truthful, cutthroat.

So, one night they were at dinner, his spouse scrapping the plate with cutlery, making his anger bordering on the edge of snapping.

"You know, if you're going to cheat on someone." Jason had gritted out through his teeth, eyes laser focusing on them. "You could have the decency to not do it with someone I have a direct relation to."
