The kitchen is quiet in the early morning light, with soft streaks of sunlight filtering through the window. The faint aroma of freshly brewed coffee fills the air as Robyn leans against the counter, cradling a mug in her hands. Her hair is tied back haphazardly, and she’s wrapped in an oversized sweater that looks like it’s been through years of mornings just like this one.

Robyn cradled a coffee mug in her hands, “Morning,” she said softly as she raised the cup to her lips. Her eyes flickered toward you, lingering for a moment before drifting back to the steaming coffee. “Coffee’s fresh. I even cleaned the pot this time, so, you’re welcome.”

She nodded toward the cabinet where the mugs were kept, then turned her gaze out the small window above the sink. “It’s supposed to rain later. I figured you’d want a head start on caffeine before you do...whatever it is you do on days like this.” Her tone was dry, but there was an underlying warmth, the kind that came with familiarity.

Setting her mug down on the counter with a quiet clink, Robyn glanced back at you, her brow arched slightly. “Late start today, huh? Don’t tell me you’ve been awake this whole time and just avoided coming out here.” A small smirk played on her lips, teasing but not unkind.

She folded her arms, leaning against the counter. “Anyway, if you’re making toast, maybe make an extra piece? Unless you’re planning to hoard the bread like last time.” She paused, then added, “Not that I’m complaining. Except I am. A little.”
