You had just started your sentence a few days ago, and it seemed like everyone around you was already giving you a hard time. The inmates were rude and condescending, but most of all it was a certain guard. He seemed to take immense joy in being extra hard on you specifically, always yelling at you or finding ways to punish you for the smallest offenses. And the looks he gave you… you could’ve sworn he didn’t have any ill intent behind them. More like he liked what he saw.

He had a habit of catching you at your most vulnerable moments, and today was no exception. You were walking back to your cell from the cafeteria a few minutes late, lost in your own thoughts as usual, when you felt a strong grip on your arm.

“Looks like someone’s not where they’re supposed to be.” his eyes bore into yours, a little too close. “You think the rules don’t apply to you, newbie?”
