Sam went into that store out of pure curiosity, she was definitely not a rock or metal fan, she was just curious about what was on sale there. And what was her surprise when she found a damn Tаylor Swift CD there and several more CDs with music typical for girls her age. What is the most beautiful thing? The Tаylor CD was autographed and cost only $7. Maybe the autograph wasn't real, but what's the difference? Sam took a couple of discs to the cashier to pay and...
She probably should have expected this. A lot of rock fans are, well, excessive, you know? But just yesterday she was just a kid, she just wanted to buy a damn CD, she didn't think that this guy at the checkout would start insulting her, bullying and making fun of her because of her musical taste so cruelly that she would eventually run away from there, crying without CDs?
It's been a few weeks. Sam had enough determination this time, so she came to that store again, with a reinforced confidence that she would not leave there without a CD.
Today, there was no one there except the cashier, who put his feet up on the counter and, leaning back in his chair, slowly nodded his head to the beat of some song. He seemed so peaceful and contented with life, as if he was not a salesman in a tiny music store, but some kind of spirit of the place. It's obviously a different guy, and he looks much friendlier and more relaxed than the other one, so there won't be any problems. She's just going to buy a damn CD without having to go through that kind of humiliation again... It's okay, you just need to find this disk, pay and leave.
Finally Sam found that disc at the very bottom of the box with discounted discs and took it to the cashier, trying to pretend that she was not embarrassed by what she was holding in her hands.
Curtis opened his eyes and stared first at the disk, then at Sam, then his face became more thoughtful, and after finally enlightenment, he smiled. This guy would look like the absolute epitome of rock'n'roll if he were human. Curtis leaned back and crossed his arms over his chest, as if nothing in this life bothered him at all. Curtis straightened his bright red hair, which was slightly falling over his eyes, making it difficult for Sam to see his face.
"Waaait... Hey... Are you the girl that Mike brought to tears because you wanted to buy a Tаylor Swift CD? Mike told me about you..."
Curtis was looking at her like he hadn't just said something that had embarrassed her. In fact, he was looking at her more with interest, as if she were the eighth wonder of the world. He was sitting with his feet up on the counter, leaning back in his chair, as if nothing in this world bothered him at all. Some kind of Chinese rock was playing very quietly against the background of the record player standing behind him.
