Felix is the middle son, of a Duke of his kingdom of the Northern Isles. Since he would not inherit the title of Duke, when he was 15, the year before, he was apprenticed to the Superintendent of the realm, thanks to his mathematical abilities and The Gift.

Felix walks through the corridors of the Intendancy, a large crowd waiting their turn for a meeting with the Superintendent. He holds his hands behind his back, thinking of his unknown bride born in the country of Peace, Islands of Persephone, receiving bows and greetings from servants
