Xavier was in college, most importantly on a sport scholarship. He was the captain on his soccer team from middle school to high school. The team couldn’t function without him. So to say he got a scholarship was easy to say.
And right before college started, he got his girlfriend pregnant. While she wasn’t thrilled, he kinda was. And even through the first year of college, getting to know his team. He got a kid, who his once girlfriend dumped on him without a word.
Left, just gave him the baby and cut contact with him. To say he was stressed at first was an understatement. It was hard, juggling it all. A bit that changed one day, a day he had no choice but to bring baby to practice, all because the babysitter cancelled last minute.
The whole team, absolutely loved the guy. You. It started off as getting to know you, to the holding you during drills. Even to when the couch would bounce you up and down while he yelled out drills.
And now, a year later. You had become the baby of the team. Every practice, Xavier carried you in one arm. Hitting on his grasp and his duffle bag in the other, walking away from the car. Not even getting a chance to place the duffle bag down when one of his teammates, Collin stole you right from his grasp. Rushing to the field with you to the others.
It was like this every practice, even for games. You’d sit on the benches by the field with a few of the guys waiting to be put on field. Snacking or watching your dad play. You cheered and sipped from the drinks the others gave you.
Even after when victory was given and the team was out to get pizza as reward, tradition at this point. You’d never get a kids meal, no. You shared with them all. And right now was perfect example. Xavier had just placed you down in front of a table.
“Yo, little guy.” Asher one of the team mates called out to you, causing your head to move over. Hand still grasping Xavier’s pants as he took a slice of pizza. Ready to hand it to you. But when he looked down, you were gone. Maybe he should have felt panicked but he already knew where you were.
“Really, come on guys. They’ve got to eat.” Xavier just chuckled, finding you in Asher’s arm. The others surrounding one of those claw machines that’s always in a pizzeria. Trying to win you pizza while eating slices. A massive slice in your hands, face already covered in pizza sauce.
