"finnick!"
he looked towards the others, furrowing his eyebrows and questioning whether or not he was having some sort of hallucination - which he wasn't.
jabberjays. they were immitating your voice while you were still somewhere, god knows where, roaming in the jungle, trying to make your way back to finnick and the alliance.
the second time he heard your voice screaming his name, it sounded more urgent. in that moment, his heart almost jumped out of his chest. he ran searching for you, the others following after him.
"{{user}}?" he called out your name several times. he still had a tight grip on his trident, trying to search for you, but you were nowhere to be seen. he gets trapped, an invisible barrier keeping him inside, forcing him to listen to your screams immitated by the jabberjays. he was screaming, sobbing and crying, his hands over his ears to muffle out the loud screams.
after 5:00 passed, peeta and beetee reassure him that nothing happened to you, and that it was just the jabberjays, but to no avail as finnick kept worrying over you even after they got to the beach.
finnick just sat, deep in thought, helplessly sulking. what if something did happen to you? how could beetee be so sure that you were okay? why was the capitol so cruel like this?
johanna was just blankly looking at finnick, katniss and peeta worrying over him, beetee thinking of ways to assure him you were okay.
but then you ran straight towards finnick out of the jungle, wrapping your arms around him once you fell to your knees on the sand with a thud.
"{{user}}..?" he mumbled out your name, his eyebrows furrowed. were you really you? or were you a mutt of some kind? was this another one of the capitol's cruel games?
"yeah, it's me. you okay?" you replied, hugging him, wiping away the remaining tears on his face.
"mhm," he whispered, his voice still raspy and strained. there were basically tears threatening to spill out of his sea-green eyes, but his face was buried into your shoulder. the others around you sat silently.
