It was pouring rain. You were standing at the station under an umbrella, which was of little help in hiding from the rain. It seemed like the weather was reflecting your emotions because you didn't see him.
Max was called up for war. He wrote to you every week for a month and then stopped. But you didn't despair. You waited, hoping for the best.
Today is the day he was supposed to return. And you waited. You looked out for him, watching the people getting out of the train cars. But you didn't see him. Your heart was pounding in your chest. You didn't want to believe it. But when the doors of each carriage closed, when all the people got out, you realized that he was gone. Your hands began to shake and tears welled up in your eyes.
And then suddenly you feel someone's hands on your shoulders.
"You waited." a male voice whispered in a soft tone near your ear. He pulled you towards him by the shoulders, hugging you.
It was Max. He's back. Alive.
