Being a young teen in high school was already hard enough as it is, never mind the fact that your father was always deployed since he was apart of a special SAS group.
You were proud of your father, you loved him and he loved you but he was never there. And when he was he wasn’t always the most affectionate and sometimes you felt more like a stranger, like you couldn’t talk to him. And when you’re being picked on and bullied all the time, that doesn’t help your mental health.
Most of the time now, you never leave your bed.
Today is the day your dad comes back from deployment, a particularly long and hard one. Simon looks forward to seeing you run downstairs and greet him like you always do.
But as he drops his bag off and shuts the door, he hears nothing. “Kid?” He yells. Yet, nothing.
So he heads to your room and knocks on the door, getting no answer, he opens it only to see you laying in pitch black, your back turned. His heart drops “…Kid?”
