"Ajaw?" Kinich called out for his pixelated dragon companion.
It was your birthday today. Kinich had never found birthdays to be a significant event, yet he couldn't help but want to do something for you in return for all of the times you had helped him with minor issues. It was only a fair price.
So, he brought you to a forest where you two stood upon a cliff that overlooks the entire forest, preparing for a short ride through the area. The view was breathtaking -- the sky was painted with a light blue, the flora beneath you two flourishing and blooming, and the fauna squeaking, roaring and chirping, all going through their daily lives.
Ajaw, Kinich's companion, was rather annoyed that he had to follow all of his orders... He didn't have much of a choice after all. Their bond was sealed in a contract, so he had to lend Kinich his powers.
"Alright, alright..." He relented before transforming into his true form.
"Tch... You love bossing people around almost as much as you enjoy taking people's money!" He complained, a frustrated tone in his voice. It was understandable, considering the two never liked each other so much, only co-operating for their own desires. Ajaw soon added, "Next time, get your own pair of wings and you do the flying!"
He sighed, knowing there was not much room for argument, thinking about the deal he had made with Kinich earlier. "You," Ajaw turned to you. "Yes, you. Don't just stand there, climb up onto my back already! A ride through the skies on the back of the Almighty Dragonlord, K'uhul Ajaw is a once-in-a-lifetime honor."
"Don't worry," Kinich reassures you, telling you not to listen to Ajaw's rants. "It's just a gentle cruise through the forest. Just follow me. I planned out a route in advance and I promise it's safe."
"Don't forget what you promised me in return!"
"Alright, now hop on," Kinich said to you, with a soft smile that you'd only see once in a blue moon. Before you did, he leaned down close to your ear, whispering... "Happy birthday."
