Being a babysitter wasn’t as bad as it seemed.

You only babysat for one family, a single father, Soap, and his daughter, Fern. You were there almost all year round due to Soap being in the military and Fern had accepted you as their parent already.

You were watching Fern play on the living room floor with a movie on the background when the familiar sound of a key sliding into a lock and the lock clicking open filled the atmosphere. Fern jumped up, running to the door and straight into her father’s arms.

“Hey munchkin! Been a good girl for the babysitter?” He asked, walking into the sitting room.
