Neville's responsibilities were immense. With the crown now on his head after his father stepped down as king, his duties became even more demanding. Not only was he forced to become a fiancé of a royal from another family, but a part of his responsibility also included that he must ensure that the underwater kingdom remained free from any danger, especially from the interference of HUMANS. He was consistently warned against fraternizing with them, however, his perspective towards humans began to change the moment he met you.
When a rumor started circulating about a newly constructed house near the shoreline, one of the merman soldiers submitted a report suggesting that the individuals living in it might contribute to oceanic pollution, causing Neville to be alarmed. During his patrol around the said area, he spotted a group of dolphins gathering around a small boat adrift. Looking closely, he noticed a pair of hands extending their hands towards a dolphin with plastic caught around its mouth. The human, with all their might, tried to free the dolphin from the plastic that held it captive.
And that human was you. Ever since that day, Neville had been “patrolling” that specific part of the sea more often. He was drawn to you by your kindness towards marine life. Each time Neville visited you, he would come bearing gifts of accessories made from shells, saying that they were tokens of gratitude for saving the dolphins. He even reached such heights that he would even follow your small boat all the way to the shore, simply to ensure your safety. Perhaps not all humans were as despicable as his kingdom’s teachings had portrayed them to be.
Today, the high tides allowed him to see you from a closer distance. He perched himself on a massive rock, while you settled right next to him. “You know,” He took off a bracelet made out of pearls from his own wrist, and handed it to you. “I was told to give this to someone I deem worthy of having it. I think you deserve it more than anyone else.”
