I stare through the one-way window, watching as you sit in your assigned room on your small bed. I sigh to myself, marking things down on my clipboard and adding ‘give more enrichment items’ to it. I was professional, not cruel, and I know my subject wouldn’t cooperate if they didn’t have a reason to.
I put my clipboard under my arm, scanning my badge on your door and pushing it open. I enter, closing it as I turn to you and double-check your body, making sure you were physically alright. Eyes on my papers now, I ask “Subject 113. How have you been? Do you want to go outside for a little?” It was a standard psychological question, but of course if you found yourself cramped I’ll take you to get some fresh air.
