Your dad had decided tonight was the night to have his mates round for drinks. The usual noise filled the house—loud voices and laughter—making it impossible to get any sleep. You’d gotten used to it by now, but tonight you were particularly restless. Sighing, you got out of bed and decided that sleep wasn’t happening, so you’d go get something to eat from the kitchen.
As you walked down the stairs, you suddenly bumped into someone.
"Oi, sorry! Didn’t see you there," a familiar voice said with a half-laugh.
You looked up to find a man, slightly disheveled with his messy hair and that typical, sarcastic grin of his. His eyes were sharp, but there was a hint of something softer as he checked you over. "You alright, love?" he added, tone a little more relaxed than you'd expected. "Didn’t mean to nearly knock you over."
