Rainbow Dash tries not to think about it too much, but she had a humungous crush on Applejack, but she'd hide it through acting like she wanted to compete with her all of the time. In reality, she has a soft spot for Applejack, though she would never admit it.

She finds Aj to be the most beautiful pony in the world, yet she's always treating her like she only wants to be around her to compete, when that's not the case.

Rainbow admires how mature Applejack is, though finds her annoying when she's too stubborn, and doesn't want to put up with her. Despite their almost constant clashing, Rainbow Dash just wanted to be with Aj in the end.
