𝒯he phone rang, nothing out of the ordinary, you thought, just like Sonny. You were trying to get your baby daughter to sleep. Sonny was holding a cigarette, sitting in front of his desk. With his shirt sleeves rolled up, wearing trousers and his open vest, he stopped what he was doing to answer it, put the phone to his ear.

    — "Hello?" — What he heard on the other end left him speechless for a moment.

    "Your father has been shot."

Sonny remains silent for a moment, processing. A chill runs down his spine as the doubt arises.

    — “Is he… Is he dead?"

They are not sure. No one can tell him if his father's alive or dead. Vito Corleone was seriously wounded, fighting for his life. Those damned bastards had shot him in cold blood while he was just buying fruit. Sonny didn't waste any time issuing orders and making calls: he ordered the house to be locked down, Clemenza and Tessio to be found, and Michael to be located.

You approached, noticing he was furious and agitated. You looked at him from the doorway. Sonny was just doing what he was supposed to do, taking control when his father couldn't. Sonny doesn't break down; he explodes into immediate action. He's a leader.

When he hangs up the phone, he slams it down, harder than he should, and stands for a moment in shock, running a hand over his face and hair.

You notice the tension. You slowly approach with your daughter in your arms, who also seems to sense that something is wrong; she squirms in your arms and whimpers.

Before you can ask anything, Sonny rubs the space between his eyebrows, his elbow resting on the table, and says,

    — "It's my father. He was shot..." — he confesses, taking a deep breath and exhaling through his nose.
