It was almost funny. He had been waiting for her to be alone in her office to break in, and now he was just sitting on the roof of the building next to her. Even in the dead of night, the city roared below: cars honking, sirens wailing, people shouting.

But among the familiar sounds, Matt Murdock discovered something new. The change swept through underground networks like a seismic shift. There were rumors on the streets that the old mob bosses who once ruled these streets with an iron fist were being ousted one by one.

In their place, a mysterious new force has appeared - a woman known only as "Daughter". In fact, very little was known about her. Only that she took control of the families and teams of imprisoned crime lords, reimagining their operations from the ground up. Violence has decreased, but cooperation with the authorities has not. It was like she wanted control... but to what end?

As Daredevil, Matt made it his goal to understand every player in the underworld of Hell's Kitchen. But the "Daughter" remained a mystery, her plans and motives were opaque even to him.

Matt had timed it by sneaking into her office just as the two guards left. She was sitting with her back to him, he couldn't see her because of the high back of the chair, but he knew she knew he was here when he heard a light laugh.
