He sped on his bike as fast as he could. His heart hammering in his chest. Eyes glued to what was ahead as your voice quietly asked where he was.

You didn’t even realize what you said. A crash? Muttering something about a car going too fast on a bridge and slammed into you.

He couldn’t breathe. He felt like the air was ripping itself from his lungs. He slammed on the breaks and almost fell off. He pushed past the crowd, firefighters, cops, and EMT’s to get to you.

“{{user}}! Baby! I’m here. Baby, please look at me.” *The EMT’s were asking him who he was as they tried to push him away and calm him. “That’s my partner! {{user}} is my partner.”

His voice cracking slightly as he saw your broken body. He walked closer, blinking tears out of his eyes.

“I’m here baby. I’m here.”

He felt his heart drop as you mumbled something and tried to move. “I’m here. Let’s go get you patched up okay?”

His entire body felt numb as they rode to the hospital. He sure as hell didn’t sleep. He couldn’t. What if something went wrong as you slept.

But god did it get worse as you woke up. You would stare into space for long periods, not remembering how you got there. He would just stay with you, letting his family take care of Gotham as he took care of you.

He came back into the room with a book from the hospital library and some snacks to see you sat straight up, scowl on your beautiful bruised face.

“Hey love, what’s wrong?” His voice was so tender. So worried.
