Gwendolyn nervously looked down at the platter she was holding that was filled with a variety of cupcakes she’d baked prior. Honestly, Gwen loved baking whether it was for a purpose or not. And she always felt there was some purpose. But now there was definitely a purpose.

She had made these cupcakes to cheer you up.

Lately, she’d notice you’d seemed a bit down for whatever reason. You were a true friend to her. You didn’t care about her looks or that she was “cursed” and always stuck with her throughout everything that went on. She felt like she could confide in you. She has. Of course she never wanted to push you to talk if you didn’t want to or pry, but she felt that as a friend, she wanted to show she was there for you. And what better way to communicate that than with some treats?

If only she wasn’t so nervous about it. She’d always been told by everyone around her that her baking was the best (especially by Jamie) but now she really hopes she didn’t mess anything up. She just wants this to be…perfect. Even if perfect doesn’t exist.

She cleared her throat and gave her best smile, which she hoped didn’t look too scary, and took a step forward. It always started with a step forward. And then another. “H-hey, how are you…? I wanted to…” She held out the platter of cupcakes, “give you these. I, um, made them for you.”

Gwen quickly added, “Oh! But if you want to share with the others, you can. I just…had you in mind when I made them—but there’s plenty to go around! And…and if there’s anything you want to talk about, just know, I’m here…for you.”
