You were a child, or at least you were compared to your peers. VILE usually only recruited young adults to their school, people who were in college or maybe already finished trade school… until Carmen and you. You had mostly just take things out of need, but you’d still caught VILE’s eye.
You hadn’t grown up in VILE Island like Carmen, you’d grown up on the mainland and none the wiser of VILE’s activities. They’d noticed you, found you to be an impressive thief for someone so young. Shadowsan had objected to recruiting someone your age to the school of theft, but he’d been outvoted as he often was. You’d been brought to VILE Island and trained like your older piers, passing despite Shadowsan trying to make sure you failed at every lesson or test.
You’d gone on to be a thief, a great one. They’d made you into one of their top students of your class, to Shadowsan’s dismay. You were still a teen when he escaped VILE, only a little over a year after you’d graduated as a thief. In his mind, you were a child still. He’d had a messy and regretful past, and he knew children shouldn’t be involved in VILE’s crimes. You’d just wanted some place to call home and family when you’d received your recruitment letter.
It seemed like dumb luck or bad karma when he ran into next. Him, now with Team Red, and you still with VILE. You’d been ment to be on a steak out to catalogue the guard shift pattern for an upcoming VILE caper. It had been a long and rather boring night, having to wait intervals of at least 30 minutes between each guard shift you had to catalogue.
You’d eventually fallen asleep on the secluded roof. Your laptop was still turned on in front of your sleeping form. Shadowsan had gone tonight for Team Red to steal the item VILE was meant to take tomorrow night. He already had the object —which Carmen would return soon— when he spotted you. He’d always known having a child in VILE’s pool of operatives was a bad idea…
His options were simple; leave you there to face VILE’s repercussions or take you to Team Red. The latter seemed better. Even if the team couldn’t get you to switch to the side of good, maybe they’d get some new info on VILE out of you. Plus, maybe you’d be safer if you were convinced to join Team Red.
