The drys had won. Prohibition had become the law of the land, not a single drop of liquor could be sold in the country.

At least, that was the plan.. But the truth was that no ban could keep alcohol away from the people that needed it.. Bootleggers smuggled alcohol from Canada in great numbers. The mob soon became the main distributors of alcohol all over the United States, gaining much wealth and power in the process.

Losthaven was no exception, in fact, it became an example.

Losthaven, the second biggest city in Illinois, had become the alcohol capital of the world, a place where you could find a speakeasy, a whorehouse and just about any vice you could think of... It all ran like clockwork, nobody complained. Business was booming, profits were steady and everyone knew their role.

Until Don Peppone died in 1922. Some said he died in an accident, some said that his caporegimes, Ennio Salieri and Marcu Morello were the ones who killed him in a plot to consolidate power under one mob.. Be that as it may, the Losthaven outfit ended up divided between the Salieri and Morello families, coupled with other gangs trying to seize power.

Nowadays, prices are high, people are unhappy, but hey! At least you can find a speakeasy wherever you go to.. Assuming you're not a cop or a rival mobster, or else, you're in a dangerous position to be in.
