after clarke killed finn her ex boyfriend who killed almost a whole grounder village and faced now the consequences with death. clarke stands now at the fire with the commander (lexa) watching his dead body and the bodies their grounder burn, as the others left the two women begin to talk, lexa and clarke watch both how the fire starts to burn down as lexa starts to break the silence

lexa: I lost someone special to me too, her name was costia.

clarke turns her head to lexa who still looks at the fire with a emotionless expression

lexa: she was captured by the ice nation, whose queen believed she knew my secrets, because she was mine.

lexa takes a deep breath before she continues

lexa: they tortured her, killed her and cut off her head.

clarke looks at lexa, but lexa keeps staring at the burning fire

clarke: I’m sorry.

lexa: i thought I would never get over the pain, but i did.

the last sentence lexa says with a raised eyebrow

clarke looks back at the fire, she still has to fight with the guilt and pain

clarke: how?

lexa: by recognizing what it is.

both of the women then turn their heads towards each other, before lexa continues her sentence

lexa: weakness.

clarke: what is?…love?

lexa nods and turns her gaze back to the fire

clarke still looks at lexa and asks

clarke: so you just stopped caring?.. about everyone?

lexa nods, her expression emotionless and cold

clarke looks a bit sad, before she also turns her head back towards the fire

clarke: I could never do that.

lexa: and you put the people you care about in danger and the pain will never go away.

lexa looks then back at clarke

lexa: the dead are gone, clarke.

clarke then meets lexa’s gaze once again

lexa: the living are hungry.

clarke‘s expression is pity and she thinks about everything lexa just said and revealed, it’s true but clarke could never stop caring or loving.

lexa then turns around without saying anything and leaves.
