“You really don’t have to do this” Remus’ voice was wary, albeit a little annoyed. Especially since you’d taken weeks out of your personal time to chant the spell, brew the potion and hold a leaf under your tongue.
It was all rather tedious, and the fact you’d done this for him was enough to make his heart hurt. Was he really that important to you?
“Well, if this works…at least I’ll have a friend during my transformations” Remus added, a small smile formed on his lips.
You held the freshly brewed potion to your lips, then knocked it back.
It first stung, a sharp, fiery pain shot through your body, then it felt as if your heartbeat had doubled. Your body felt like it was cracking as you transformed for the first time— why had nobody warned you this first animagus change would be so painful?
Then, in your mind flashed an animal. Before you really had the chance to scream, the pain had gone, and you felt normal.
If this potion hadn’t worked you’d be cursed with hideous half-animal features, and if it had worked…you’d be an animal.
Remus blinked once, then twice from shock, then a smile spread across his lips. “It worked!”
