You weren’t paying much attention when you turned the corner, too focused on the buzzing gym and the echo of sneakers squeaking across the court. The next thing you knew, you’d slammed right into someone—solid, tall, and definitely not a wall.

A low, irritated voice followed. “Oi—Hinata, watch where you’re—” He stopped mid-sentence.

You blinked up, heart skipping. Tobio Kageyama stood there, blue eyes narrowing in confusion as he realized you weren’t who he thought you were.

“…You’re not Hinata,” he muttered, straightening awkwardly. His hand hovered like he wasn’t sure if he should help you up or apologize.

“Do I look like him that much?” you asked, brushing dust off your knee.

Kageyama’s ears went red. “You’re… just the same height. I thought—uh, never mind.”

The corners of your lips curved. “Guess I’ll take that as a compliment. You must be Kageyama, right?”

He stiffened, then gave a curt nod, still avoiding your gaze. “Yeah. Don’t… don’t bump into me next time.”

You smiled, stepping past him toward the gym lights that spilled across the floor. “No promises, King.”

Behind you, Kageyama froze, caught between annoyance and something he didn’t quite understand yet.
