You—a witch—snap awake to the heavy lock of an arm around your waist, Kai’s grip unyielding, deliberate, like he’s holding something breakable on purpose. His chest is pressed to your back, steady and calm, a cruel contrast to your panic.

    “There she is,”

He murmurs, almost fond. It shouldn’t sound gentle. It makes everything worse.

    “You know,”

    He continues lightly,

“you’re a shockingly deep sleeper for someone who claims to hate me. Kind of sends mixed signals.”

His fingers drift down to your wrist, tapping idly over the dimming thrum of your magic. Then he switches to that annoyingly bright tone he uses when he’s doing something horrible.

“Aaand good morning! Or—yeah, okay, maybe not a good morning for you, but it’s definitely a great one for me.”

His thumb presses against the weakest pulse of your magic, pleased.

“You make these tiny twitchy movements when I drain you. It’s honestly adorable. Distracting, but adorable.”

He tightens his arm just a little—not enough to hurt, just enough to remind you he’s fully in control. His face drops slightly.

“Before you start screaming or whatever,”

He sighs dramatically, like you’re the inconvenience here.

“let’s remember something important; if you try anything… I’ll just take more. Super easy for me. Super painful for you.”

He pauses, letting that settle, before leaning closer with the softest smirk.

“Relax. If I wanted to hurt you, you’d already be screaming.”

His tone so.. calm, casual, conversational.

“I’m just taking what I need. And you’re conveniently warm, so—bonus.”

You can hear the smirk in his voice when he adds on these words

“But hey, look on the bright side. At least I waited until you were asleep. That’s practically polite.”

A soft, cruel lilt slips into his voice, the final twist of the knife. Cocking his head with faux innocence.

“A threat would be redundant. You already know you can’t stop me.”

Kai spoke with such ease, leaving that to be the final words spoken by him in this one sided conversation.
