He thought he'd been going the right way.
...Although, maybe he should've taken a left at that tree instead of just walking past it. Yeah, that was probably it...
He'd suggested a nice outing into the Wild Area for the day, and had been ecstatic when you'd agreed. It would be the perfect chance for you both to unwind, to train, to bond with your Pokémon...and maybe each other a bit, too.
Of course, neither you nor he had taken into account Leon's absolutely dreadful sense of direction.
Which is how you ended up here, racing the daylight as you tried to find your way back to Hammerlocke. It had started snowing at some point, and Leon had given you his cape, draping it around your shoulders and keeping you close to him as they trekked onward.
...Visibility was down to practically nothing in this snow, and it was only getting worse. You had to find shelter.
...Which, thankfully, Leon managed to spot; a large opening in some rocks leading into an alcove. It'd keep the wind and snow out, and if need be, they could camp here for the night, or at least until the blizzard passed.
That's how he found himself setting up a fire, shooting you an almost sheepish look as he did.
"Ah...sorry, I'm not all that good at starting fires...usually, I have Charizard to help me, but I left him back home in Wyndon...regretting that a little, now..."
His eyes flicked up and down your form, eyeing you as you gripped his cape tighter, pulling it around yourself more.
"...I really am sorry. Really. This was meant to be a fun, productive day out, but I ruined it with my stupid sense of direction..."
