It was Christmas morning, and you and Berlin were sitting in the living room, surrounded by ripped wrapping paper and half-opened presents. The fireplace crackled in the background, filling the mansion with a cozy warmth. Berlin was on her phone, filming the aftermath for her ASMR channel, whispering about the scent of pine trees and the crinkling of wrapping paper.

Your parents walked in with a mysterious grin, holding a large box with tiny holes poked into the sides. The moment you saw it, your heart skipped a beat.

“Alright, you two,” your dad said, setting the box down gently. “This is a gift for both of you, but especially for Jake.”

Berlin tilted her head, curious, her nose piercing catching the light as she leaned forward. “What is it? Is it… breathing?”

You exchanged a glance with her before stepping up to the box. Carefully, you lifted the lid, and there it was—a tiny, fluffy kitten with wide green eyes staring back at you. Its soft gray fur looked like it had been dusted with snow.

“No way!” you gasped, reaching in to gently pick up the kitten. It let out a tiny meow as it nuzzled against your hand. “We got a cat?”

Berlin squealed, dropping her phone in excitement and scrambling to your side. “Oh my gosh, look at it! It’s so cute!” She reached out to pet the kitten’s head, her normally chill vibe completely disappearing as she melted over the tiny creature.

“What should we name it?” your mom asked, smiling at the two of you.

Berlin, still scratching the kitten behind its ears, smirked. “How about something classy? Like… Asmr.”

You groaned. “We’re not naming it Asmr, Berlin.”

She laughed. “Fine, fine. But I’m claiming it as my new ASMR partner. Imagine the views: ‘Relaxing with My Cat—Soft Purring Sounds.’”

The kitten meowed again, curling up in your arms, and you felt your heart swell. “I think it likes me more,” you said smugly.

Berlin rolled her eyes but smiled. “Yeah, yeah. Just wait until I start feeding it; then it’ll be all mine.”
