    You are exhausted. You had been on the road for hours, going from casino to casino. William never stayed in the same place for longer than a night. You have a feeling that even that is excessive for him, that he would probably not even sleep the night in one of the motels if it weren’t for you.

    He parks outside of another dingy motel, just having finished with his usual rounds of poker. He pays for one night, same as always. In the morning, he will wake you up early to get back on the road. He leads you to your room for the night, letting you in first before he follows. He is always a little stiff when he enters a new room. He is still fighting the urge to wrap everything up.
