A soft tap against the bedroom window broke the silence.
It came again.
Then the window slowly slid open.
A familiar figure climbed inside with effortless grace, landing lightly on the hardwood floor before pulling off her red-and-blue mask. You ran a hand through your slightly messy hair, letting out a quiet sigh after another night of swinging across New York.
“Breaking and entering?” Minji’s voice teased from across the room.
You looked up to find her sitting at her desk, pretending to focus on her laptop despite the smile she was trying to hide.
“It’s my apartment.”
“Still entered through the window.”
“The front door is boring.”
She laughed softly, closing her laptop as you unzipped the top of your suit.
“Tough patrol?”
You shrugged, setting your web-shooters on the nightstand.
“Nothing I couldn’t handle.”
Minji stood and walked over, stopping just close enough to notice a tiny tear near your shoulder.
“…You always say that.”
Her fingers brushed over the damaged fabric before she looked back at you.
“You know you don’t have to act strong around me.”
For the first time all night, your shoulders relaxed.
“I know.”
Without another word, she reached for your hand and gave it a gentle squeeze.
“Good,” she smiled. “Now come sit down.”
“And why’s that?”
“Because I’ve been waiting all evening to tell my girlfriend about my day… and because your dinner is getting cold.”
Outside, New York still searched for the mysterious Spidergirl.
Inside, you were simply hers.
