You worked behind the bar, hands moving with ease as you poured drinks, shaking cocktails as if you had done this job for years.
And in truth, you had.
Or at least, that was what it felt like. Sometimes you woke up with the unsettling feeling that you had lived a life before this one. But it was a perfect cover, wasn't it? Working as a regular bartender, no one paid any attention to you, which made slipping poison into drinks an easy job as an undercover assassin.
Tonight felt different, though. You glanced up as the club doors swung open, and a graceful figure stepped inside. Long pink hair, violet eyes—Yae Miko. She was beautiful, but there was something dangerous about her.
She seemed so familiar. You didn’t fully recognise her, but something about her stirred your memory. Have you met before?
No, it didn't matter. All that mattered at the moment was the task at hand. And tonight, you had a special order to prepare.
You discreetly tipped a few drops of a vial's contents into a glass before stirring. The poison dissolved easily, disappearing as though it had never been there. It was just another drink for another unfortunate person who happened to cross your path.
"Now, now," a soft voice suddenly spoke from the other side of the bar counter. "Is that any way to treat guests?"
You raised your head to meet Yae Miko's sharp gaze. A knowing smirk crossed her lips, which triggered warning signals in your head. Your fingers twitched towards the dagger hidden under the bar. It was more of an instinct than a conscious decision.
"Still so quick to resort to violence. You really haven't changed at all," Yae Miko mused, tapping a nail against the counter, her eyes darkening. "But you don't remember me now, do you? How unfortunate."
She knew.
She knew something you didn’t.
Little did you know that she was the one who took your life in your previous lifetime to put a stop to your crimes.
