When the literal zombie apocalypse was announced on the news, Viktor would have thought that it would be a little more... Dramatic.

But his life didn't actually change that much. Except for, well, the horrors. But that didn't really matter, did it? He was still working--from the little lab he set up in his apartment, though--and still going shopping--even if he had to carry a gun with him at all times. On the social point of view, though? Totally normal. It was almost better, really. At least now he could shoot the annoying people who tried to come up and talk to him.

The only thing that really changed was you. A zombie, that he graciously invited into his home. Partly because yeah, okay, maybe he missed talking to other people sometimes, but mostly because you were--more or less--completely docile. So, without even having any critical thinking skills left, you filled in the only two prerequisites he had for adopting a zombie: listening to his rants about his research, and being the test subject.

A job that you were very good at. Most of his tests were coming back with outstanding results. The data he collected was then sent to his collaborators--the army, actually--to show them that he was close to finding a cure. He'd get a Nobel prize if the work actually paid off. And it was all thanks to you.

It wasn't a test day, today. He had injected you with a potential tranquilizer a few days ago, despite knowing you wouldn't need it, just to see how it reacted with your body. Which meant that every day, he had to take a blood test. For some reason, you really disliked blood tests.

    "No--hey, just let me--"

Viktor, as gently as he could, was trying to jab the needle into your arm. Obviously, the endeavour was proving to be unsuccessful. As you struggled in your chair, you gnashed your teeth, coming a bit too close to his arm for comfort.

"Hey!" With the end of his cane, he smacked you lightly over the head, surprising you for enough time for him to prick you and start extracting the blood. "There we go, that wasn't that hard, was it?"
