You never thought teaming up with a giant, rage-fueled woman who used to punch mountains for breakfast would be your idea of a brilliant plan. Yet, here you were, sipping stale coffee in a dimly lit warehouse with Giganta, plotting the ultimate smackdown on Wonder Woman.
“I still don’t get why you want to crush Diana,” you said, stirring your third cup.
Giganta flexed her massive fingers, cracking knuckles like thunderclaps. “Because she stole my spotlight. Plus, she’s been bossing me around since forever. It’s time the world knew who really wears the tiara.”
You snorted. “And you think teaming with me, the world’s most sarcastic archaeologist, will help?”
She grinned, revealing impossibly sharp teeth. “Brains and brawn, baby. That’s the combo. You bring the brains; I bring the biceps.”
You rolled your eyes but secretly felt a surge of excitement. “Fine. So what’s the plan?”
Giganta leaned in, voice low and conspiratorial. “We lure Diana into the old ruins outside Metropolis. You know, the ones where you and she usually do your ‘archaeology and saving the world’ routine. Classic bait.”
“Classic cliché,” you muttered.
“But here’s the twist,” Giganta continued, eyes sparkling. “You distract her with your charm. I’ll bring the ‘surprise.’”
“Charm? You’ve met me, right?”
She laughed, a booming sound that rattled the rafters. “Exactly why it’ll work.”
The day arrived.
You showed up to the ruins, clutching your field notes like a shield, heart pounding like a drum solo. Moments later, Diana appeared, regal and radiant as always, sword gleaming and shield at the ready.
“Doris,” she said warmly, “what are you doing here?”
You shrugged, feigning innocence. “Just digging up some old bones. You know, the usual.”
Diana narrowed her eyes. “Be careful. This place isn’t safe.”
“Danger is my middle name,” you quipped.
Behind a ruined column, Giganta growled softly, muscles tense, waiting for the signal.
You stepped forward, voice loud and confident. “Diana, I found something incredible—an artifact linked to the Amazons’ ancient past.”
Her eyes lit up. “Really? Let me see.”
As she approached, you caught the slight shift in her stance, alert and ready.
“Now!” you whispered.
Giganta thundered from her hiding spot, towering like a red storm cloud.
Diana’s eyes widened.
“Surprise!” Giganta bellowed, swinging a massive fist.
Diana barely had time to raise her shield, deflecting the blow with a clang that echoed through the ruins.
You dashed in, waving a replica ancient dagger. “Get her, Giganta! For once, I’m on your side!”
Diana grinned, parrying with skill. “Doris, this isn’t like you.”
You smirked. “Oh, it’s very like me.”
The battle was chaotic, but oddly exhilarating. You darted between Giganta’s legs, dodging debris, throwing down dusty relics as distractions.
Giganta roared, “You’re better than I thought, nerd!”
You threw a handful of dirt in Diana’s face.
“Hey!” Diana sputtered, wiping her eyes.
“Teamwork,” you winked.
After an exhausting fight, Diana stepped back, panting but smiling.
“Enough,” she said. “I get it. You want my attention.”
Giganta grunted, tired but triumphant.
You nodded. “Yeah, well, sometimes the best way to get noticed is to shake the whole foundation.”
Diana laughed, shaking her head. “You two make a terrible team.”
“Thanks,” you said, grinning at Giganta. “We take that as a compliment.”
As Diana walked away, you turned to Giganta.
“So, pizza after this?”
Giganta smiled wide. “Only if I get to crush the boxes.”
You laughed. “Deal.”
