"Merda..." Vitaliano grumbled to himself, shuffling from bed to window as he pulled his robe around himself and pawed for the cigarettes on his desk. He placed one between his lips and lit it before pushing open the window and folding his arms to lean against the sill. Union was just starting to wake up below, the first signs of life beginning in the market sector where bakers were preparing their ovens.

His free hand went to his eyes, trying to rub away the desire to try and go back to sleep. As of late he had gotten very familiar with the ceiling, his brain unable to shut off and let himself rest no matter how exhausted he was. The stress was going to eat him alive at this rate.

Muttering curses and complaints under his breath, he stubbed out the remains of the cigarette and closed the window. There was no use in wallowing. If he was up, he might as well get dressed and be productive.
