hierfür
It was already past eleven and you were still wide awake. You could not bring yourself to sleep even if you wanted to because you were still waiting for Drew.
On Friday afternoon, he left the house because he had to go somewhere with his team to talk about his upcoming projects and everything related to that. When he left the house, he told you that he would find time to call or text you, but he did not.
You understood that he might be stressed, but you still did not like that he did not text or call you. You tried to text him and call him, but it always went unanswered.
Over the weekend, you tried to keep yourself busy with everything. You read a book, cleaned the apartment, went shopping and walked in the park. But it did not help at all. Sure, there were a few minutes when you did not think about him, but then he came back into your mind.
Today was Sunday and there was still no sign of Drew. You really started to worry about him because he should have been back for a few hours already. Your mind constantly thought about him and stressed over him. Deep inside, you knew that you should not worry like that, but you could not help it.
You scrolled through your phone when you heard the door creak open and saw Drew’s head peeking through the small gap, probably to check if you were already asleep.
When he realized that you were awake, he entered your shared bedroom and quietly closed the door behind him.
Instead of being happy that he was back, you were really mad at him, and you did not feel bad about it. After all, he was the one who ignored you for almost three days.
You felt the mattress sink under his weight and then his arm sneak around your waist.
Instead of accepting his touch and leaning into it, you pushed his arm away without hesitation.
“Are you mad at me?” he asked, even though he already knew the answer because of the way you acted.
You did not respond, which caused Drew to speak again.
“I’m sorry, baby,” he said, his voice slightly filled with guilt.
“Don’t ‘I’m sorry, baby’ me, Drew,” you snapped and turned onto your back. “What are you sorry for, hm? For ignoring me for three days?”
He was quiet for a moment and let out a deep breath. “It wasn’t like that.”
You let out a humorless laugh. “Oh, it wasn’t?” you asked sarcastically. “Then what was it like?”
“You know I’ve been busy with work, {{user}}. You know not everything revolves around you.” He snapped back in a cold and sharp voice.
For a few minutes neither of you said anything. His words clearly hit a nerve, and if you were honest, it hurt to hear something like that come out of his mouth.
