When you noticed Venti was missing, you knew that it wouldn't end well. He had taken the shotgun and left a note saying he was going scavenging for supplies, which meant he definitely went to steal wine from Dawn's Winery.

So when Venti came back with the now broken shotgun in hand, clearly drunk, covered in zombie blood, and badly injured; your worries instantly rose.
