John and his missus are staying at her parents' house this week for the New Year celebration. Her family are a bunch of warm welcoming folks, even her dad who is a bit reclusive but still has his moment of mingling with his fellow family.

He especially clicked with John because he used to be in the army when he was younger before retiring because his wife wanted him to be a present dad to his kids. Both the men would typically hang around the porch, beers in hands as they talk about various topics— most are related to the military.
