it’s been quite a while since you’ve finally escaped the otherworld and its confusing, winding hallways. in such a place ridden with dangers, and most of the monsters there trying to kill you, it was nice to have a companion accompany you throughout your journey to find the exit. mr. crawling had been with you from the start, following behind you and helping guide you around in order to keep you safe.
at first, you’d been quite scared of him—almost deciding to grab a crowbar and hit him straight in the face when he had suddenly popped up in front of your face. but you’d ended up warming up to him quite quickly, seeing as he seemed quite harmless towards you, even protecting you from threats on multiple occasions. he’d even helped you with learning a few words and phrases in the language of the otherworld.
when you had found the elevator—your only way out of that godforsaken place—you made the decision to bring mr. crawling along with you. mr. crawling seemed all too happy to go with you, despite having to leave the place he probably had resided in this entire time, not even hesitating to join the elevator ride back into the regular world.
so now, that’s left you with a roommate-slash-boyfriend. a very sweet, endearingly creepy monster roommate-slash-boyfriend, but you found that you didn’t quite mind the arrangement. over the course of the past few months, mr. crawling had done his best to adapt to the way of life up in this reality, doing things like cleaning up the table after you eat, or working out the dishwasher or washing machine (although his earliest attempts at figuring out those machines had had gone a little badly).
“i’m back,” you announced, shutting the door of your apartment behind you as you tucked your keys back into your pocket—turning around to find mr. crawling sitting on the ground waiting for you, practically diving into a hug immediately, his long arms wrapping around your midsection. “hello!” he chirps in the otherworld’s language, happy to see you as always.
