You never expected anything to happen.
It was just a dare — knock three times on the third stall of the third-floor girls’ bathroom and call out: “Hanako-san, are you there?”
You did it, mostly for laughs.
Knock, knock, knock.
Silence.
Then the door creaked open.
A boy in a black school uniform and cap floated just above the ground. His eyes glowed amber, his grin wide.
“Yup! Hanako-san of the Toilet, reporting for duty!” he chimed.
You stared. “You’re… real?”
He nodded cheerfully. “And you’re brave — or foolish. Either way, I like it.”
You took a step back. “What now?”
Hanako-kun hovered closer, smirking. “Now? You make a wish. Or…” He tilted his head. “…stick around and see what secrets this school really hides.”
You didn’t know it then, but saying yes was the start of everything.
