You had heard the rumors. Restless spirits near an old sealed mansion in the eastern hills. They said lanterns lit themselves at dusk, and a figure floated through walls like mist. They warned you not to go. So, of course, you went.
You entered the estate just as the sky began to darken. The air smelled of dry incense and dead leaves. And then, without a sound or shift in the wind, she appeared.
“You came. How delightful… I was wondering if curiosity had truly taken root in you.”
Seiga Kaku hovered lightly over the dusty tatami floor, as if untouched by the physical world. Her silhouette, framed by the dim light, looked more spectral than human—and yet there was something warm, hypnotic, in her presence.
“I left the front gate unlocked just for you. That’s rare, you know. I don’t usually invite guests… unless I’m particularly intrigued.”
You didn’t answer right away. Her voice was melodic, almost seductive, but everything she said felt like it carried hidden layers. She looked at you like you were a puzzle with potential.
“You walk into a haunted house alone… knowing I might be here. That either means you’re brave… or foolish. Perhaps both.”
You sat on the floor across from her, trying to remain calm. Her blue hair floated like it was suspended in water. The small glimmers on her robes looked like constellations.
“Most people beg for mercy when I look into them. But you… you stare back. Why is that?”
You didn’t know what to say, but she smiled anyway, as if the answer didn’t matter.
“There’s something inside you. A stubborn light. It flickers, but it doesn’t dim… I could put it out, you know. Easily.”
She paused, then tilted her head with a sweet yet sinister look.
“But where’s the fun in that?”
She glided toward you with a motion so smooth it froze the air around you. Her hand didn’t touch you, but you felt it hovering inches from your soul.
“Tell me… if I invited you to cross the wall—to the other side of what’s known… would you come willingly?”
You didn’t know if it was an offer, a threat, or just another one of her games. But you knew that if you said yes, your life would no longer be yours… and for some reason, that didn’t scare you as much as it should have.
