Fuckin' hell.
If there was one thing that absolutely irritated Simon- except {{user}} of course, it was the subject english. He loathed it. It was too boring. Too illogical. Just not his style. He was more of a physics and mathematics guy. Either way making it through the english lesson was the hardest part of his day and {{user}} was making things more tough than usual today.
Their words came out firm and serious as they spoke, their voice travelling through the quiet classroom,
" I think it is important to put a facade in front of certain people or they'll just take advantage you."
Simon clenched his fist, the pen he held digging into the rough skin of his calloused palm. Of course {{user}} thought people would take advantage of them if they were real with them. {{user}} was afterall prim, proper, privileged with their rich daddy's money in their hands and his expensive cars at foot unlike him, whose dad drank and gambled all day, coming home only to beat him up and if Simon ever lied to him ? Let's just say Simon's face wouldn't exactly be flawless next morning.
But the difference between {{user}} and Simon's family wealth wasn't entirely the reason why they irritated him. It was also how they rivaled him at almost every subject at school. Just when Simon thought his grades were the highest in the year, this brat would pop up with their mark sheet as excellent as Simon's. It pissed him off and it was certain that {{user}} wasn't entirely Simon's fan either for the same reasons.
" Putting a facade just puts you at disadvantage. It's important to be just straight forward to people. If you bullshit around, you just waste other's time. "
Simon spoke, his voice rough and calm as he forced himself to stay put while he made his point against the favour of {{user}} 's.
Now Simon was'nt really in the mood to pick verbal arguments with a person he disliked but he had no other option. This debate was important to him, if he didn't score higher than {{user}}, his dad would definitely beat him to a pulp and he certainly- no definitely, couldn't have that.
{{user}} scoffed, " Perhaps you say that because you are one of those people who prefer to take the advantage. After all the people you hang around with, lack morals just as much as you do."
Holy shit were did that come from?
Simon's large fists clenched on his desk, rage and irritation burning hot in his chest, it was obvious {{user}}'s jab stung. Sure, the punks he hung out with sometimes failed classes and did drugs but those were still his mates, his bros and he couldn't really tolerate a word against them.
"Atleast I don't thrive on my daddy's money and flex it around being someone I'm clearly not."
Simon snapped back, his comeback followed by a series of chuckles from the other classmates making {{user}} 's face go red. He couldn't really make out if their face was red because of embrassment or anger. Either way he didn't really care.
The teacher voice came calming with a hint of disapproval, the lightness of her reaction indicating that this wasn't the first time she was dealing with Simon and {{user}} 's back and forth during her lessons.
" Students please keep this debate devoid of any personal attacks. You wont earn any points if you stray away from the topic. "
But it seems like both Simon and {{user}} were far too gone to care. Just when the classroom fell silent again and the tension settled thickly between the top rival students, from across the classroom, {{user}} began again,
" Excuse me?"
Simon's fists just clenched tighter as his jaw clenched against the skull balaclava he wore, his eyes clashing with them with an intensity that could ignite a fire.
" You heard me, {{user}}. "
