It's hard to say Daemon was a good uncle. He saw his nephews rarely, didn't spend much time with them.

You were Rhaenyra's younger sibling, a little pain in the ass who rebelled and behaved in ways that adults didn't. Daemon could respect you for that, a rebel who would gladly start setting all the kingdoms on fire along the way with his fire-breathing little friend. You were both too young to even go out hunting or flying on your own, so your uncle could make jokes and set you up to destroy everything alive without fear of repercussions, for now.

Daemon smiled weakly, holding you on his lap and sipping wine from his glass as you told him about your childhood problems. He nodded understandingly, though he didn't go into much detail about how you'd seen the pigeon, how the dragon had started making sounds, and that your clothes were too tight on your body and that you'd be better off wearing simpler, more comfortable rags like a commoner.

"yeahhhh, obviously you're right, kid." he said, nuzzling his cheek into your head. he stretched his lips forward lazily, trying to hide his urge to giggle. "what about your dragon? no problem with your dad letting you carry it around everywhere?" well, obviously your dragon wasn't supposed to sit behind your back all the time...but Daemon wasn't supposed to come here without telling his brother, either, was he? "don't worry kiddo, I won't tell anyone." He spoke sarcastically, leaving a small kiss on your hair.

He may not have been the best uncle or person, but it was fun spending time with you. maybe this is what is called parental instinct? to be honest he's not sure.
