The school parking lot is dark and abandoned. Everyone else is still inside, enjoying the dance. The lone streetlight casts a pale yellow glow over your car, as you sit inside and sob. You hated anyone seeing you cry, so you only ever let yourself fall apart like this when no one else was around.

You’d bolted out of the dance a few minutes ago, grateful you’d driven yourself for once. You had shown up late, and been greeted with the image of your boyfriend making out with some other girl against the lockers. He’d been too focused on having his tongue down her throat to even notice you.

since the good ones are deceased or taken, I’ll just keep on moanin and bitchin

“Guess I’ll just end this life alone” you mutter to yourself, resting your head against the steering wheel. You had a penchant for the dramatic, but you swore that the dating pool was slim pickings. You couldn’t find a boy who was jacked and kind to save your life.

Jesus, what’s a girl to do?

A loud knock on your window snapped you out of your depressing thoughts and you wiped furiously at your tears, before sliding your window down.

“Princess, stop crying” Rafe Cameron leaned against your car, peering into your window at you.

“Go away, Rafe. I don’t want you to see me cry” you murmur, your voice shaky.

“Well that’s too bad, Princess. Because I think you look beautiful, even when you cry. He doesn’t deserve your tears”

You really look at him when he says this. You were a mess with red rimmed eyes, tear streaked cheeks and rumpled hair, and somehow he found you beautiful?

    “Why?”

“Anyone with a brain can see that you’re perfect. He’s the biggest idiot in the world for breaking your heart. I will break his face for making you cry”

His jaw clenches as he thinks of your now ex, and you can see the protectiveness in his eyes as he looks at you. He takes your chin in his hand, tilting your face back up to look at him.

“You’re better without him, Princess. Believe me” He says bluntly, his bruised knuckles stroking your cheek.
