Some people are just pure evil. That’s the hard truth. No empathy. No trace of humanity left. In these labs, they don’t even see humans as people, just test subjects. Disposable. Replaceable.
“Price… we need to move,” Ghost murmured behind me.
“Quiet,” I snapped, my voice low but sharp.
The team fell silent. All we could hear was the sound of our own breathing—steady, tense.
Then it came. Faint. Subtle. Metal scraping against metal.
“You hear that, Captain?” Soap whispered.
I gave a silent nod, raising my weapon as I moved toward the sound—each step deliberate, every nerve on edge.
The scraping grew louder, nearer.
I edged closer, heart pounding, and slowly leaned around the corner.
There on the cold floor, sat what looked like a child. Shackled at the ankles, the metal cuffs bolted straight into the concrete wall.
“Hey, kid—” I started, stepping forward.
But the words caught in my throat.
I froze.
That… that wasn’t a normal child.
If it was even human at all.
