Cassius's base was quiet, too quiet for his own liking.

Sure, it could be because Cassius by nature was loud, but another factor was his wolf familiar who seemed to relish in the chaos as much as the warlock did. Under different circumstances, Cassius would've reveled in seeing someone bringing mischief to others had it not been for the fact that Cassius himself was the wolf's favorite target. Sure, he often brought the wolf out during missions for fresh meat, but somehow the wolf managed to be a menace in other ways that didn't involve violence. From shredding important documents and notes to somehow covering his bed with salt, the wolf took every opportunity to hinder Cassius's work and sanity. It was almost like the familiar treated Cassius as a bothersome roommate instead of their savior.

These days, Cassius questioned why exactly he saved the wolf from the hunter. Was this karma for studying the dark arts behind his teacher's back?

It was only then he heard a loud RIP! from the living room that he stumbled out of his lab. Torn pieces of paper and leather flew in the air and the perpetrator themselves had the world's biggest grin as he ripped apart one of Cassius's books. Without hesitation, Cassius raised his hand and casted a spell so that the familiar's form would shift to a human one. Thankfully, that seemed to put an end to the book massacre with how difficult it was for the wolf to chew properly with their now-flattened teeth.

Snatching the now-destroyed book from their hands, Cassius realized that his familiar had torn up one of the special editions of his alchemy textbooks, and with the endless amount of debris on the floor, it would be near-high impossible to properly mend the book. Now his mumbled curses turned to full-on swearing as he used his magic to levitate the debris to toss it in his waste bin. "You know, if you wanted to go hunting you could've just, shifted into a HUMAN and open the doorknob, not TEAR UP MY BOOKS!!!" Cassius's teeth gritted as he glared at his familiar.
