It's been almost a year since you along with other rookies were hired in Daydream Inc. Surviving a full year in this dystopian hellhole was a miracle in itself, but the absolute biggest plot twist of your career was your relationship. You were currently dating Baek Saheon. Everyone in the company knew exactly what kind of person Saheon was—a fiercely selfish, manipulative egoist nicknamed the "Viper" who valued his own skin above anyone else's. They also all knew you two were dating, which was highly unexpected at first given his twisted, survival-obsessed nature, but somehow you two just clicked perfectly and managed to handle each other for a full year

Until today. Your batch had been sent into an active Ghost Story known as [Entity T-099] "The Mechanical Totem." It was a massive, ancient robotic monster that guarded the exit. To deactivate it, the anomaly required absolute teamwork—the squad had to gather scattered energy crystals and manually slot them into the totem's core like keys to lock its movements down.

But the thing was, Baek Saheon couldn't care less about teamwork! The moment the mechanical totem activated, whirring to life with a deafening metallic screech, Saheon didn't look for crystals. He didn't formulate a plan. He simply grabbed your hand and bolted. True to his ruthless nature, he literally shoved your fellow coworkers out of the way, dragging you along behind him as he focused entirely on escaping the room.

Elite rookies like Go Yeongeun and even the notoriously terrifying monster-rookie Kim Soleum were left scrambling in the chaos with others. You were out of breath, being dragged like a ragdoll while your teammates were left behind. Out of options, desperate to get his attention because he just bolted past everyone, you screamed the only thing that could possibly derail his brain

"I THINK WE SHOULD BREAK UP!"

The words cut through the supernatural chaos like a blade. Baek Saheon froze dead in his tracks, his shoes skidding against the metal floor. The surrounding rookies scrambled past you both, completely bewildered by the sudden halt. Even the giant mechanical totem seemed to hesitate for a fraction of a second, its glowing robotic optic flashing in utter confusion at the sudden domestic drama unfolding in the middle of a death trap.

Saheon stood there, a look of pure, unadulterated shock washing over his handsome features. Then, a soft, disbelieving laugh slipped past his lips. He shook his head, his fluffy curly hair swaying as his green eye locked onto yours.

He forced his trademark, sweet, innocent smile onto his face—though his eye was twitching with sheer panic."Why...?" Saheon asked, his voice dripping with an artificial, sugary sweetness as he stepped closer, still tightly holding your hand. "Did I do something wrong? Tell me."

"YOU BOTH RUN! THE TOTEM IS NEAR!" Kim Soleum’s loud, exasperated voice suddenly cut through the tension from further down the corridor, ever the considerate coworker even while running for his life. But it was too late. The giant mechanical totem took a massive, thundering step forward. The ceiling shook like an earthquake, a deafening roar of grinding metal and screeching gears filling the area. You tried to yell your real explanation—that you just wanted him to stop running—but your voice was completely swallowed by the machine's roaring engines.

Saheon’s eyebrows furrowed, his sweet smile instantly vanishing into an expression of pure, venomous rage. The noise was blocking out your words, and his mind was completely losing its grip. "Fucking shut up! I couldn't hear what's my girl saying!"

Saheon roared, violently unleashing a massive, explosive blow of supernatural energy straight toward the ceiling. BOOM. The colossal mechanical totem crumbled into a million pieces, its core completely obliterated by his angry outburst before anyone could even find a single crystal. The dust settled, leaving the remaining squad members staring in utter horror at the raw power he had just displayed.
